Race Point Lighthouse
The Beauty of Cape Cod Lighthouses
Race Point Lighthouse in Truro, Cape Cod, is really quite beautiful. Not just for the lighthouse itself, but for the view all around it

You can park your car and enjoy the 45 minute walk to the lighthouse. The grounds are open year round. But for a real lighthouse experience, stay in the Keeper’s house, shown beside the lighthouse in the picture above. It’s a shared house with an actual lighthouse innkeeper, with 3 bedrooms upstairs where you and your family will stay, and a fourth bedroom on the first floor, for the innkeeper. Except for the bedrooms, all areas are considered common areas. You’ll be able to cook in the kitchen, stretch out in the living room, or enjoy the magnificent view from any window.
But this is not a lighthouse bed and breakfast, in fact you’ll need to bring a few items with you…bed linens, bath towels and food. Transportation to and from Race Point are provided by the innkeeper’s. There is another house just a short distance away called, The Whistle house. The former fog signal building has been converted to a two bedroom, one bath house, and is available for weekly rental from May to October. This house is not shared, just you and your family or friends will be staying here. But you will need your own four wheel drive vehicle to get here, and also must acquire a permit from the National Park Service in order to drive over the sand dunes. However, once you do this, you will be able to enjoy a leisure drive over all the scenic trails For more information, call (508) 487-9930, eMail racepointlighthouse@comcast.net
