Take a Walk Along the
Freedom Trail in Boston


The Freedom Trail in Boston, is a 2.5 mile red-brick walking trail that leads you to 16 nationally significant historic sites, which include Faneuil Hall, the site of the Boston Massacre, Paul Revere House and the USS Constitution.

This trail is not a loop.

It starts at Boston Common and ends at the Bunker Hill Monument in Charlestown. You can walk it with or without a guided tour.

If you choose to walk this on your own, a map and brochure of the trail is available at the Visitors Information Booth on Boston Common, at no charge.

You can start in the beginning, the middle or the end and wind your way through the streets of the city and along the paths of history.


Boston Freedom Trail Tour Times

For the "Walk into History Tour", it costs about $12.00 per person, and does not include cost of entrance to sites along the path.

Tickets can be purchased at the Visitor Information Center on Boston Common. Located at 148 Tremont Street. Call 617-242-5642 to confirm actual times.

Walk Into History Tour, Daily 11 am, Noon, 1 pm, 3:30 pm

Walk Into History Tour, Mon-Friday Only, 10 am, 1:30 pm, 4:30 pm

  • King’s Chapel
  • King’s Chapel Burying Ground
  • Benjamin Franklin Statue/Boston Latin School
  • Old Corner Book Store

  • Site of the Boston Massacre
  • Faneuil Hall
  • Paul Revere House
  • The Old North Church
  • Copp's Hill Burying Ground
  • USS Constitution — “Old Ironsides”
  • Constitution Museum
  • Bunker Hill Monument



Getting There

To reach the beginning of the trail and the Boston Common Visitor Center by subway, take the Red or Green Line to Park Street Station. Exit the station, and turn 180 degrees. The Center will be 100 yards in front of you.

If you are arriving in Boston by car, the best parking spot is the Boston Common underground parking garage on Charles Street.
