Doing some Boston tourism and looking for ideas? Boston was the center of America's revolutionary activity during the Colonial period; several of the first Revolutionary War skirmishes were fought here, including the Boston Massacre, Boston Tea Party, and the Battle of Bunker Hill; the battles of Lexington and Concord were fought nearby. Not only is it a city steeped in history, but also has many modern day attractions and events, and loads of fun. Being a remarkably compact city, it is ideal for the Boston tourist. You can easily get to different parts of the city on foot, or by hopping on the “T”, Boston’s subway system, which connects to all the major hot spots. Boston MuseumsMuseum of Fine Arts. Largest art museum in New England. Encyclopedic collection includes American decorative arts and sculpture; ancient Egyptian, Nubian, and Near Eastern Art; the art of Asia; classical art; contemporary art; European decorative art and sculpture; and European and American paintings. Largest collection of Claude Monet paintings outside France. Boston Science Museum. Boston Attractions & EventsBoston Common and Public Garden – The oldest park in the country. Stroll through the common, or ride the famous Swan Boats, and enjoy the park with its shady trees, fountains, statues, sidewalk vendors, and greenery. Here you will find over 40 pushcart eateries and 17 restaurants, and great shopping. It’s set around a cobble-stoned promenade where you’ll find live street performers from musicians, to magicians, keeping you entertained. A favorite of the Boston tourist. Old North Church. Built in 1723, and is the oldest standing church building in Boston. This church played a major role in the revolutionary war. USS Constitution. The oldest commissioned warship afloat in the world, the USS Constitution is manned by an active duty U.S. Navy crew. Learn about it’s great military feats and it's role in the American Revolution. Boston Public Library First built in 1848, the Boston Public Library is America's oldest public library and the fourth largest in the USA. It was initially called The People's Palace, and the University of the People, a beacon of learning for immigrants and working families.
Fenway Park opened on April 20, 1912, and is home of the Boston Red Sox. Your Boston tourism wouldn't be complete without a visit to the Green Monster.Boston Harborfest is a six-day long Fourth of July Festival that showcases the colonial and maritime heritage of the cradle of the American Revolution.
