Millions of people visit here every year. By far the busiest time of year is in the summer and fall months.

Winter is a little quieter, however, there is plenty of activities like cross country skiing or snowshoeing the carriage trails, taking a winter hike, skating at Jordan Pond, sledding at Keno Valley Golf Club, or ice fishing at Echo Lake.

After working up an appetite, choosing where you are going to eat will be a task. With more than 70 restaurants to choose from, picking just one will be difficult.

Being you're in Maine, obviously you'll find the freshest lobster here along with other catches from the sea; scallops, shrimp, crab, haddock, flounder, clams.

However if a juicy steak is what you crave, the Portside Grill or The Quarterdeck are good choices. Or maybe some Italian food, or Mexican or Asian. You won't have a problem finding something to satisfy your palette.

Accommodations in can fit into most budgets. There are high end hotel and inns, like the Balance Rock Inn or BarHarbor Inn, or less expensive ones, like Acacia House Hotel or the Seacroft Inn.

However, if you have an RV, or want to feel close with nature, there are quite a few camp grounds to stay on.

When we're here we typically stay at Wonder View Inn or the Atlantic Oaks Resort hotel, because they let us bring our pooch. There are other hotels and inns that are dog friendly, but most are not.

With everything there is here and Acadia National Park it’s easily one of our most favorite New England vacations.
